I often meet some patients in the outpatient clinic. After I arrive, I don't do anything, so I say: Doctor, please give me a digital examination. I often ask, what are your symptoms and why did you think of doing a fingerprint examination? Patients often reply to me about what health programs have been watched, and want to do a finger-check to rule out cancer.
Is finger examination useful? It must be useful, it is the eyes of the anorectal doctor. However, the role of the finger examination is limited, and it is impossible to be comprehensive. It is unscientific and not rigorous to judge whether there is cancer with one finger examination.
What can finger check do? First of all, you need to understand that the fingers of a normal person are only 9cm long. In the lateral position, they can only touch a distance of 4cm to 5cm above the anal canal. The length of the human rectum is 12~15cm. The upper end is connected to the sigmoid colon, and the lower end is connected to the The anal canal is connected, and about 80% of cancers occur in the rectum and sigmoid colon. Therefore, it is not rigorous to judge whether there is rectal cancer by a digital examination. The most basic one should also be a sigmoidoscopy.
The digital examination is more for the condition of the anal canal and lower rectum, such as the size of hemorrhoids, the direction of anal fistula and the judgment of internal medicine, the diagnosis of deep perianal abscess and anal sinusitis, whether anal fissure and anal defecation are coordinated, whether Protrusion of the rectum and prolapse of the rectal mucosa can initially judge the contractility of the anus and the driving force of rectal defecation. Experienced doctors can also discover the possibility of some functional diseases of the pelvic floor through a digital examination, and carry out further related examinations.
