Stapling hemorrhoidectomy (PPH)
Postoperative pain, slow wound healing, anal stenosis, and fecal incontinence are common complications of traditional hemorrhoid surgery. For the treatment of severe hemorrhoids (degrees III and IV), traditional methods include injection of sclerosing agent and ligation, etc. After treatment, there are often unbearable anal pain and the possibility of recurrence. In 1998, Italian scholar Longo et al., based on the new theory of internal hemorrhoid formation, reported a new method for the treatment of stage 2 and 3 annular prolapsed internal hemorrhoids through circular resection of the lower rectal mucosa and submucosa tissue-procedure for prolapse and hemorrhoids ,PPH). At the beginning of this century, it was widely promoted and used in China.
PPH is suitable for all kinds of hemorrhoids, especially patients with severe internal hemorrhoids and partial rectal mucosal prolapse.
The principle is: retaining the anal cushion, and circularly resecting and anastomosing part of the internal hemorrhoids and the hemorrhoid mucosa and submucosal tissues, and an instant anastomosis. It not only blocks the blood supply of hemorrhoids, but also suspends and fixes the slip tissues, and restores the pathological state of the anorectum to the normal anatomical state. Since the arteries in the submucosal layer supplying hemorrhoids are cut off at the same time, the blood supply of hemorrhoids decreases after surgery, and the hemorrhoids gradually atrophy about 2 weeks after surgery.
The Department of Hemorrhoids and Fistula of Xiangtan Central Hospital was the first to carry out this operation in 2006, and it is currently the only specialist in the city that can perform this operation independently.
Features of PPH:
Significantly reduce postoperative pain
Significantly reduce postoperative bleeding
Significantly shorten the length of hospital stay
Significantly speed up the recovery cycle
Significantly improve the treatment effect
Significantly improve the quality of life
PPH surgery has the following advantages:
1) Significantly improve the preoperative symptoms and obtain a cure;
2) Short operation time;
3) Short hospital stay;
4) Less postoperative complications;
5) Short recovery time;
6) It can improve the sensory disturbance caused by the anatomical variation of the anal canal and improve the patient's ability to finely regulate stool.
