There are many traps for hemorrhoid surgery
Health Times intern reporter Wang Li
Trap 1: You have to cut it before you feel at ease.
In fact, if it is a minor hemorrhoid, surgery may not be necessary to eliminate it. Wang Yanmei said that there is still controversy in the industry about whether hemorrhoids is a disease and whether it is harmful to the human body. He believes that minor hemorrhoids may be beneficial to the human body: "In medicine, there is a kind of'anal cushion theory.' In the past, the bulge at the lower end of the rectum was called hemorrhoids. Now it is believed that the mild bulge is not a disease, but is helpful for the tightness of the anus. A closed anal cushion, similar to the sealing ring of a faucet."
Of course, it’s not right to think that hemorrhoids are just minor illnesses and don’t matter. Hemorrhoids are divided into external hemorrhoids, internal hemorrhoids and mixed hemorrhoids. The harm to the human body is mainly manifested in bleeding, pain and itching, which still needs attention. What kind of hemorrhoids need surgery? Wang Yanmei also gave the "gold standard": First, it depends on whether the hemorrhoids bleed continuously and the amount of bleeding; second, it depends on whether the hemorrhoids are easily displaced after defecation, causing inconvenience in life; third, they are older and have poor physical conditions. For good patients, surgery is recommended even if the condition is not serious. In addition, some patients of special populations, such as expectant pregnant women, military service people and people going abroad, also need to relieve the "worries about the stock market" as soon as possible.
Trap 2: More care is better after surgery.
After hemorrhoid surgery, some medical institutions will require patients to come back for dressing changes, follow-up visits, and even introduce so-called physical therapy, aromatherapy, etc., in fact, this is completely unnecessary. Generally speaking, after hemorrhoid surgery, patients only need to stay in the hospital for 2 to 3 days, and then do the postoperative "care" at home.
First of all, we must solve the problem of stool and prevent constipation. If the bowel movement is weak, you can take a little laxative medicine and eat a normal diet. You can eat more fruits and vegetables that are conducive to bowel movements, such as apples, bananas, kiwi, kelp, fungus, celery, leeks, etc. Eat more light, non-irritating foods. Eat some protein-rich foods such as eggs and meat, which is more conducive to wound healing. Drink plenty of water, honey and water. The second is to keep the affected area clean and hygienic. Wounds must be cleaned and disinfected in time; cleaned after defecation. Some hospitals may have some medicines to allow patients to clean up the affected area. At the same time, you must exercise properly. As long as it is not particularly painful, walk and move from time to time. Exercise can make the body's metabolism faster and better appetite. With better gastrointestinal function, defecation will be better and the wound will grow faster.
Trap 3: "Minimally invasive" and "painless" make it easier.
Due to the richness of nerves in the anus and the squeezing of the wound caused by defecation, hemorrhoid surgery is more painful. Such minimally invasive and painless hemorrhoid surgery is very attractive to patients. However, in Wang Yanmei's view, hemorrhoid surgery has no distinction between traditional and minimally invasive surgery. Minimally invasive and painless are just a sales gimmick. He said that if surgery must be divided into categories, he is more inclined to divide it into basic surgery and some newly applied auxiliary procedures, such as circumcision surgery (PPH).
"For hemorrhoid surgery, the real effect lies in the surgeon, not in the method. The most suitable method is the best. The abuse of some methods may cause some adverse reactions, such as anal stenosis, which causes difficulty in defecation, and the wound cannot heal. It can cause pain, bleeding and even anal fissure.” Therefore, we still have to remind patients not to be superstitious about methods, let alone treat methods as curative effects. It is more important to choose a professional doctor.
